• Travel the unfrequented routes to the Tinença de Benifassà and admire the breathtaking scenery of the district.
• In the Els Ports district, taste some authentic mountain cuisine: rabbit in snail sauce, lamb stew, Forcallana soup, dried and salted meats, dishes prepared with local truffles, marinated game. For dessert, curds, or homemade pastries such as the area’s typical flaons.
• See the cave paintings in the Valltorta ravine (Tirig), the Remigia cave (Ares del Maestre) or in Morella la Vella, now listed as World Heritage.
• Taste some delicious prawns in Vinarós or Benicarló after a refreshing swim in the sea.
• Visit Peñiscola and see the castle where “Papa Luna” (Pope Benedict XII) once lived.
• Get a beautiful tan on the sandy beaches of Alcossebre, Torreblanca, Oropesa del Mar and Benicàssim, or discover the coves hidden along the rocky part of the coast.
• Go on an outing to Sant Mateu, capital of the Maestrazgo district, to see some outstanding examples of Medieval architecture. In Catí, you might like to see an altar piece by Jacomart.
• Walk through the woods of Vistabella del Maestrazgo and Xodos to arrive at the Monastery of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa.
• In Castellón de la Plana, you can enjoy plays and concerts, and exhibits at the Main Theatre, and the Contemporary Art Museum and Fine Arts Museum, which now position the city among leading cultural attractions.
• Play golf or fly an ultralight in Castellon de la Plana, capital of the province.
The nearest village is Alcocebre which is a 2 Km walk along the beach or a 3 Km drive with a car.
You can enjoy a beautiful view of the whole coast by driving to the top of the mountain of “El Pinar” and visiting the chapel which can be seen from our campsite. Total distance about 7 Km.
